Soul Gardens

Forgetting.jpg

My recent work has seen a shift in the attitude and the imagery in my solutions.
I typically use organic forms for my painting and reference familiar shapes or memories, and in this series I used familiar natural forms but placed them in an incorporeal environment, a Soul Garden.

A series of monoprints in acrylic and ink allowed me to work large and layer the imagery that alludes to these ethereal planes. The intangible destinations gave me freedom to immerse myself in the process and encouraged alterations to the imagery I was familiar with.

The work is the result of a reflective and exhilarating set of summer residencies. The creative process continues to awe my sensibilities and the natural world and perhaps the spiritual, to provide mysteries, beauty and contradictions to explore.
